On the side of you SD memory card you will find a small white lever that locks and unlocks the card. There is nothing you have to change on the actual camera to unlock the card.

Hi all!
I have a similar trouble.
The card is MMC-type, so has no lock switch on it. But my Canon PowerShot said "card locked!" with every card I inserted. What can I do? Please help me.

Hi all!
I have found solution for this problem.
Inside the camera there is a small contact group that checks, is lock switch on or off. After numerous inserts and takeouts of card, this contacts became slightly bent and does not works properly. The problem was solved by disassembling the camera and straightening of this contacts.

Hi all!
On the side of the memory stick is a little white or yellow piece. Just move it up or down and reinsert the memory stick into the camera. It worked for me!

Usually card lock just refers the card itself. Just pull the memory card from the computer and look on the side of the card. Is there a little sliding switch> If so slide it to the other position and see what happens when you put the card back in the camera.

Try the old tape method where you place a piece of tape over the side of the card with the slider (see this link for example pic: http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Storage/memory_card_locked)

I used a thin object to bend the lever pin into the LEFT of the camera.

Since the lever is inside it does not move the adapter lever back to the lock position and that works.

The locking device on the SD card applies to all card as far as I can see and should be used if storing data on a card you do not want to lose. But with the Canon Camera it is a different problem. A card will work in other Canon cameras but not in one that says locked card when the SD itself is not locked as Joe pointed out. I think Edward may be on the right track. Canon says send it to us but it will cost you $$$$. That would not be the case if it was only the card.

It is true! Look inside the card slot, to the left. You will see like a little piece of metal (a contact). Delicately push it slightly to the left (inside) and You're done!!!

Thanks guys!

All the SD cards I insert into my SD750 say card locked...probably the contact inside doesn't since it anymore. To get around this, I installed CHDSK which overrules the Card Locked feature, and still allows you to take pictures, etc. Better than spending $100 to get the camera repaired!

Yeah...it was a cool answer...my problem was solved in a giffy by turning that small lever on the side of the card...before that I was just thinking of big expenses that I may have had to incur to get this problem fixed with a local camera repairer.....more than money the problem of any other damage to camera concerns me....now with your solution no issues....thanks

Yeah if you really need help the simplest way is to just take out your memory SD card and on 1 of the sides there should be a small lever not really a lever but kinda put it the other way and there!
Hope I helped :)
