My constant companion
( - 3/29/06)My feelings about my Canon sd500 mirror many of the comments: love the small size, speed, intuitive interface, picture quality is great for the most part. It takes better photos than my partner's $1500 digital SLR (although isn't as satisfying to use). What I love the most is the quality of the video.
I also share some of the frustration: short battery life, tender LCD (although mine had problems after I dropped it, and they resolved over time). I don't usually shoot in auto mode, probably because I didn't like it.
Some of my pet peeves are: the "on/off" button is too close to the shutter, I can't always find the "mode" I want (kids, snow, etc.).
After a year of about 300 snapshots a month, I feel no need to upgrade.
