I got my Canon PowerShot SD550 wet, it works, however the lens cover will barely open or not open at all. Should I get it repaired?

I just recently got my Canon PowerShot SD550 wet and well i gave it like two days to dry out. So today it starts to work. However, the lens cover that is automatic will barely open when i turn it on or it wont open at all. Also my LCD screen has little wet marks inside the screen. It doesn't effect the picture. However, I would like to know whether or not I should get it repaired, just in case.

As for drying out ... have you tried using the AC Adapter (AC Adapter Kit ACK900) to plug in and let it dry out under power? That may help out. I'd also recommend a good "blowing out" of the lens cover with some canned air.

I don't think it would hurt to contact Canon to get an estimate for repair. That really is the first thing you have to do before deciding whether it's worth it. Especially with the LCD screen. Though it isn't bad now, it may get worse over time due to oxidation.

Well even i had this sort of problem, although it wasnt wet but it had moisture and some dirt, due to which the lens did not closed. I contacted Canon before trying out some things like blowing out etc. In case you are getting a E18 error on your screen(which is very common due to lens begin stuck).. check out the link below, if the steps mentioned there do not work, then contact Canon. Good luck.
