Good low-light performance

(Paul Crouser - 12/21/06)

My previous camera was a Pentax Optio S3 which served me well for two years, but I take a lot of indoor and evening shots and was always disappointed with the A3's low-light performance (I hate using flash!) When I totalled the A3 by accident last month, I resolved to get something equally small (I wear the camera in a belt-pouch everywhere I go) but that would give me some ISO flexibility and/or image stabilization at a reasonable price. This little camera's ISO settings fill the bill nicely. My shots of our church's indoor Christmas activities using Manual mode and the ISO HI setting produces great 1600x1200 shots suitable for website, powerpoint or photo-album use. I'm delighted. There are lots of other improvements from the A3's two-year old technology, but this alone was worth the price of admission (which was about 2/3rds what I paid last time!)
