I've heard error 24 associated with a power-up problem, so the first thing I'd check is the battery area. Maybe something inside the battery compartment got knocked loose. If the lens isn't making any grinding noises, or the camera itself isn't making a rattling or anything, it may be a simple matter of popping something back into place, but it could be more complicated. Your best bet is to get an estimate from a repair shop or from Canon.

The lens opening and closing is probably just because it is beginning to power up, then losing power immediately and turning back off.

Just to let you know, I sent the camera in to Canon--it was still under warrenty. They repaired it free of charge. They said the power supply assembly was inoperative so that the power supply did not operate properly from time to time. The power supply assembly was replaced. I am very happy! Thanks for your info.

Hi!! You would do me a BIG favor if you would answer this "mystery" for me. I must have miss-adjusted something unknowingly but every time I make a shot (in most modes) I get the "histogram" plus all the data relevant to the photo crammed up on the side of the screen. This is very disturbing and I cannot find out how to override it. This is where I need a little help, please! Thanks. Lars Sorensen
