Kind of tricky here. The SD850 has a newer and faster processor in it, and it is the updated version of the SD700, so I would lean towards that. In terms of shutter lag and regular shooting, they are pretty comparable in terms of speed; the SD850 has a hair's edge on lag and saving time. Yet, if you shoot with flash, the SD700's timing is better. Go figure.

I compared the images of SD700 and SD850 in www.flickr.com and it seems to me that, the image quality of SD700 is better than SD850,even than SD800 also. The images are more sharper and the night shots are excellent for a ultracompact camera.I want to buy a SD700.I ordered it in www.broadwayphoto.com.But they are forcing me to buy a battery also. They are telling me that, the batery that comes with the camera will last only for 15mins !!! So they are telling me to buy a 2hours/4hours battery. So I cancelled the order.

Can anybody plz tell me,is that true that Canon gives us a scrap battery with SD700 IS?

how long the battery life could be?

and which site will be the best choice for buying this camera?

I desparately want this camera ASAP, as I am going back to my country very soon.Plz help

That sounds really fishy to me. This camera is supposed to come with the Canon NB-5L lithium ion battery, which lasts for about 240 shots and wayyy longer than 15 minutes! Either that sales rep didn't know what they were talking about, or that company is not giving you the camera with the battery it's supposed to have.

I'd usually tell you to buy it from Amazon, but they don't seem to have any available. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with other online retailers. But the one from the top of the page, fotoelectronics.com, DOES say that the NB-5L battery comes with it. I wonder if Broadwayphoto had the same thing? Wherever you order it, as long as it includes that battery, you will be fine.

Maybe this online site is the same scam that www.digitalnerds.com is? They sell the camera at a competitive price to get you on their site, then either scare or force you to buy something for 10x the price to recoup their losses.

The NB-5L does come in the original packaging. If you want an additional battery, I haven't had any problems with a non-OEM battery I bought from Amazon.

Brenda's right, you should get about 240 shots, give or take, based on how long you leave your LCD on between shots, how many movies you take, etc.

Any reputable website will be fine for this purchase. You can also purchase it at a store if there's one around you. Most stores pricematch to each other already if you have the competitor's ad.

Don't ever try to buy in "www.broadwayphoto.com" !!!!They will give you the asian version "IXY810IS" is not a real 850IS north american version. So it's not come with the canon worldwide warranty..
