I am trying to decide between the Canon SD750, or the Canon SD1000.

The camera would be used for your basic family pictures of kids, sports, vacations etc. I am no expert on cameras, the less I have to deal with buttons for different lighting the better.

The SD750 and the SD1000 are essentially the same camera with a few subtle differences, namely the LCD size and price. Either camera will serve you very well, they're both highly rated excellent cameras. If you want to save a little cash, the SD1000 is about $30-50 cheaper, depending on which merchant you pick.

Nobody has talked about the 1000 being a flat, sharp cornered box.... in contrast to the rounded corners and face of the 750....much nicer to hold and carry, which looks somewhat better too!

The LCD size on the SD1000 (IXUS 70) is smaller, 2.5 inch vs 3.0 inch on the SD750 (IXUS 75), due to the SD1000 incorporating an optical viewfinder. An optical viewfinder allows you to stabilize the tiny camera against your face and also assists in viewing scenes in bright sunlight when the LCD tends to washout and become less easy to see. The other advantage of having a viewfinder is that it lets you turn off the LCD and be able to conserve precious battery power.
