Try resetting the camera to reload the firmware. I'd also look to see if there's a firmware update for your camera at canonusa.com. If so, download and install it.

But if it's been dropped, the focusing elements may be out of alignment and that would mean a repair.

I just bought the same camera and have the same problem, out of the box. Shockingly blurry fotos compared to my SD 850, taken under precisely the same conditions. Maybe because it's a smaller camera and thus harder to hold steady?
