does the sd800 or 850 have built in battery charge, or do need to remove battery to chargel. What is cost of second battery, what is life of battery.

There is no built-in battery charger for the cameras.

The batteries have to be charged in a separate charger which is supplied together with the camera.

The cost for a second battery varies from one shop to another..

The Canon NB5L lithium rechargeable battery sells for $37 at this site and between $10-$18 at this site

The battery life is 270 shots per charge with LCD on and if you use view finder and switch the LCD off, you may extend the battery life to 600 shots per charge. see the bottom page of this review

Haven't had a problem with it. In fact, if you didn't tell me, I wouldn't know which one was in the camera. 1/3 the price, too. Buy two, and free shipping gives you 2 batteries for $26.
