Is there a replacement yet for the SD 800 with the wide angle but now with more mega pixals?

Yes, the SD 870 is has the honor of "upgrading" the SD 800 is....However, due to the larger LCD the 870 has no optical viewfinder. Plus, the continuous shooting mode rate decreases from 1.7 frames per second to 1.3 frames per second. The good news is the larger LCD, lighter weight and 8MP instead of 7.

Well, that, and the SD870IS has a little better macro focus and double the onboard storage (yeah, useless, I know). I have the SD800IS, but I wouldn't mind the SD870IS either :)

From the top of this very page: "Note: this camera was first sold in Sep 2006. There may be newer versions available." I am also looking for a newer version of this camera WITH an optical viewfinder. Does anyone know if there will be one?
