This problem actually tends to happen to a few SD800 cameras. The problem is while the camera has the flash turned on, there is a focusing problem, and for some reason particles in front of the lens are focused on instead of what you're actually trying to focus on. This usually arises from the flash being too close to the lens/sensor of the camera. Unfortunately if you have this problem (and the camera is out of warranty), then you'll have to take pictures without flash. If it is in warranty, send it back to be repaired.
