My SD850 intermittantly takes dark pictures.

My SD850 intermittantly takes dark pictures in outside low light cloudy days while in Manual Mode and using any Zoom while composing a shot. While composing the shot the LCD will show a very dark screen making it barely visible to see. If you take the shot it will come out just like the LCD view. Does not happen when the sun is out or if I don't use the Zoom function. Have tried resetting to no avail.

Well, just because the sun is out, doesn't mean that there isn't plenty of ambient light. In fact, more sunburns happen in overcast skies than on a sunny day. And when you're at full zoom, your lens is at it's slowest. So on overcast days, I'd check your presets and maybe use the "beach" scene to stop the lens down as much as possible. Also, use a flash. Yes, a flash. Even in daytime, a flash will make your subject "pop."
