I cut a video from the memory card of the camera and saved it to my computer. Now I want it back in the camera to edit it.

If I simply copy and paste the video on the memory card, it does not show in the camera. Like it is saved on the memory card but when I put the memory card back in the camera, the camera says no images/videos found.

Unfortunately you are trying to drive both ways down a one way street. The Camera cannot read files that have been made or edited on any other kind of equipment. There is a second control file that is written along with the main *.mov file. The camera needs the control file and it has to match the video file it is reading.

When the Canon 880 records a video it makes two files. One is a *.MOV file and the other is a *.THM file. They will both have the same front name such as MVI_0264 or something like that. The camera needs both files to play the movie back in the camera.

You can move the *.MOV file over to the computer and play it and still move it back to the camera memory card and it will play just fine in the camera (make sure you put it back in the same directory it was in originally).

The problem comes when you edit the movie on the computer and then try to move it back to the camera to play it won't play because the 2 files (movie file and the control file) no longer match up. So you need to do any IN CAMERA editing you want to do first before moving it to a computer for more editing. You just can't put a changed movie file back into the camera and have it play as the control file won't match which is made at the time the camera records the video.

Thanks.. Actually I did not edit it on the computer but maybe my computer has some programme which edits videos when copying it down from the camera's memory card. I merely copied it from the camera to the computer and now the video wont go back in the camera. Don't know whats the actual problem but thanks for helping :)

Just a quick test for you. Shoot a video. Move the video file *.mov off the video card into the computer. Then watch it with Quicktime, or whatever plays the *.mov file for you. Then copy it back to the camera memory card and try to replay the movie in camera. I used my SD990 to do this and found it worked fine. Unless your SD880 is different, it should work the same way. Just a way of testing to see what happens when you move the file back and forth. Editing it would be another story as it would be re-saved in possibly a different structure.
