Test pix on SD990 IS set on "Auto" are soft, muddy, blurry.

I just purchased a used 990 that was reported as working perfectly, but my test pictures taken on "Auto" are blurry, muddy and soft. I get the same look when I look through the LCD. Would a low battery cause this? (It's chargin now.) Or might it be something else?

Not really. But what I would recommend is put your subject dead in the middle and prefocus by pushing your shutter half way down. Then recompose the image to your liking and press the shutter the rest of the way to take the shot. It may be that the camera is focusing where you don't expect it to.
