canon sx10is white screen no pix

white screen , no pix , no dcontrols displayed , no playback but lens zoom and flash ok. Camera fairly new , not abused and operator is technically savvy. Is this possibly a burnt out ccd ? and if so how? or .....?

Well, it's possible. Could also just be a corrupted firmware. Try resetting the camera back to the factory default settings. Also check with canon for a firmware update. Absent that, it may be the CCD has failed. Since chances are you still have a warranty in force, I'd get it in for repair. But don't dally. The clock is ticking.
