They're both really good cameras, but the SX110 performs better than the Sony H10 at extreme ISO levels, both high and low. The H10 has a better sensor and a better processor, because the SX110 is just getting the new Canon CMOS, which probably won't be as good as the Sony CMOS that has been out far longer. Plus the H10 has a couple more features. It is kind of a toss up here, if you tend to take pictures in extremely low or high light, or sports photography, then go with the Canon. If more features is what you need, then go with the H10.

Why not see for yourself? for comparison, you may want to check out this resource. It takes pictures with each and you can compare them side by side.

Frankly, I don't think the quality of SONY is worth the price, hassle over proprietary technology, etc. Canon makes a superior camera.

At the "this resource" mentioned by James DeRuvo in his responce October 9, 2008, neither the SX110 nor the Sony H10 were among the cameras listed.

Take a look at the Sony H50, its the upgraded H10. The SX110 is a fairly new camera, so it probably won't have pics up on that site for a while, if you do a google image search you can find some though.

While true, you can look at other cameras in the same product line and get a feel for what the next step would be for. And in time, yes, they will be there.
