SX110 IS vs A590 IS versus PS Elph SD1200 IS?

My A570 IS bit the dust while on vacation & I bought Elph SD1200 IS to replace & continue vacation. Now find that Canon is offering an A590 IS for same price as repairing the A570 ($89). But could also get SX110 IS for $130 instead. Also have an older, once repaired A70 that I actually liked better than the A570 despite its heavier weight & more batteries. Like the Elph so far, but thinking nice to have one with a little more oomph, like the SX110. Does it make sense to get the SX110IS while I save pennies for a good DSLR?

Not really. You're in essence looking for a "bridge" camera to use until you can get that XSi (or better). You know the old saying ... A bird in hand ....

But if you really want to compare, go to the Canon site for any of the models you've listed. In the upper right hand corner you'll see a button for "choose the right product." Then, click on "product comparison." A popup window will let you compare up to three cameras for features. This will give you a chance to compare them side by side to see the differences, and more importantly, the similarities.

Next, check out this resource. It takes pictures with each and you can compare them side by side.

Thanks. I had already done much of that. Guess I was just wondering if the $$ amount was worth it as an interim camera.
