Good Camera in a small package
(Juan Luis Sepulveda - 3/1/09)Very impressive performance for such an amateur camera. In general, I like it a lot so far. Everything works as advertised. I got mine in Japan. The shots inspected at 100% mag through PhotoShop are quite acceptable.
You have to do a lot of reading to effectively use this camera. The quality of the pictures is certainly inferior to those I get in my EOS 5D with my EF 24-105 L IS but that, I think, is expected. No complains there. It will probably take me one month to really build on what to do and what to avoid. I seem to get better results shooting manual in the Av setting, especially keeping the ISO setting low.
Movie shooting works fine. I wished it was something other than MOV format.
I can get pretty good photo viewing on my SONY XBR-5 HD TV conected via HDMI. A big plus using the HDMI. I love it. But I had to buy a special mini HDMI to standard HDMI. Got two of them from MonoPrice.com Best place for cables.
CONS: Why do I have to go to Japan to buy one. I am very dissapointed with Canon Marketing strategy. I believe it stinks.
I seem to get excessive noise when using ISO higher than 400. But I am not sure I may be doing some error.
