When will the SX1 IS be available in the United States?

There is no official date, if it does come out in the US, it will probably be in 2009, but no one knows for sure if it will ever come out in the US. Canon claims they have no official plans to release it in the United States.

Look for it shortly after CES in Las Vegas.

They sold in China for months now - a testing market.

Canon doesn't want to risk its name in the US market.
This is Canon's first time put CMOS in the small camera or non EOS camera.
They like to work the bugs out in China, not in the US.
Look like it passed the test.
Step two is UK, I guess step three is the US, a few months from now. I can't wait.

The camera was listed on the Canon USA site today announcing an April release in the USA.

One of our local camera dealers, actually received the camera at the very beginning of April while we were on a business trip. I purchased it on April 6th and in general I am very happy with it. The few problems I am having are probably user related as I have not mastered all the bells and whistles.
