Would current/past owners recommend this camera for someone with little experience looking to take better pictures at MLB games??

I don't have much experience with SLRs, but am looking to take better action shots at MLB baseball games (season ticket holder). I want something better than a point and shoot, but don't have a huge amount of extra money lying around (meaning i don't want to spend more than $600). Would the Canon digital Rebel be a good camera for me??

I think that this would definitely be a good camera for around $600, the Nikon's are slightly better for baseball and faster moving sports. This camera is still fast, and maintains good color and picture quality even at high zoom distances. Just keep in mind that if you're going to take MLB photos from the stands you'll need at the least 300mm if not higher, which can run a couple hundred dollars. I would actually go with the Nikon D40, because in my experience Nikon SLRs have taken better sports photos. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Emma,

I would agree with the above posting, but I've taken great photos with my 350D. What really helps is a good lens. You will need a 300mm plus lens, and it should also have a wide aperture to let enough light in. I would recommend f/4 or lower (preferrably an f/2.8). Good luck and happy shooting.

Andrew
