I know in some of the older Nikon cameras, in order to keep picture speed higher, when going to the max shutter speed, the picture is not displayed on the LCD in order to save camera processing time. If the camera doesn't not have to work on displaying the picture, it can take the next picture faster, is the premise behind not showing the picture, I believe. If the pictures prints alright, then if the pictures are developed, you will not have any problems. Again, this is the case with Nikon cameras, and probably the Canon as well, but I'm not 100% certain, and couldn't find any documentation on Canon's website. Hope this helps.
