Don't Overlook the Panasonic FZ50
With all the buzz around Sony's H5 and the Canon S3 IS, it would be a shame to overlook an equally fantastic extended zoom camera, the Panasonic FZ50.

Much like the H5 and S3 IS, the Panasonic FZ50 is a "user's choice" camera, and is currently the highest rated extended zoom camera overall by Digital Camera HQ users. The FZ50 currently has a 4.82 rating, though admittedly, it has not received the same quantity of reviews as its rivals.
It's a little more hefty than the H5 or S3 IS, available in the $400-500 range and sporting a large 10 megapixel sensor. People who own the camera are quite satisfied with their purchase. Ross, a Digital Camera HQ user, says "If you want a camera that performs well, takes excellent pictures, has lots of features, has a fantastic zoom, and don't want to carry around a big bag full of lenses that you would have to do if you moved up to a DSLR - then the FZ50 should be seriously considered."
We can't help but agree with Ross' sentiments. The Panasonic FZ50 is a fantastic advanced/extended zoom camera, perfect for serious photographers who don't want to deal with the hassles of SLR photography.
