My pictures appear distorted when resized from 1280 x 960 to 190 x 165.

I have tried Quality setting but get same results. The original 1280 X 960 pictures that I download from the camera are great. I use the FinePics viewer program automatic resize feature to reduce size to 190 x 165. This allows me to put 12 pictures on a 81/2 x 11 page. I take pictures of interiors and exteriors of houses and siding appears wavey or some crazy pattern and carpets look zig-zagged. Any ideas??

When a picture is re-sized, the most important feature to maintain is the Aspect Ratio.
In your example, you started off with a ratio of 1280: 960 which is approximately 1.15 : 1, whereas the end product is 190 : 165 giving 1.33 : 1

What this means is when you select re-size, you should also check the " Preserve Aspect Ratio " option.

you have to go back to the program that resize your picture to search for the funtion.

If it is not available, then use a better program such as Picasa or Irfanview.

Adobe and several other editing programs link the two sizes so when you resize the photo you can do it that way. Same with Picasa, like Bukit said. Also there's batch image resizers that can resize several images at once, if you need that, or can do one image at a time without even opening it up. You can search for free ones on google. If all else fails, just use a calculator. For example, take 1280 divide by 190, and you'll get a number, then multiply this number by 960 to find the other dimension of the photo. So 190 by X.
