12800 ISO from f100, what does that mean?

Comparing f100 f31 and f50, which one is the best camera? My friend told me to buy pocket camera with high ISO, because I like to take pictures in the night or in less light area. Or do you have a reference for a better camera? Thanks!

With apologies to your friend, do NOT buy a camera on the basis of a high advertised ISO. Rather, buy a camera that gives you satisfactory pictures at a higher ISO compared to other cameras that don't. With regard to the 12800 ISO from f100, what it means is that the marketing people went crazy because you would never want to take pictures with that camera at that ISO setting. They would look like cxxp! The new F200 Fuji is rated pretty good and the Panasonic Lumix LX3 gets great assistance in low light situations by an f2.0 lens that can gather more light coupled with the modest use of increased ISO but not over 800 and preferably not over 400.

Okay, so according to your opinion, which one is the best, Fuji F200 or Panasonic Lumix LX3? :)

It is probably unfair for me to answer that question because I own the Panasonic Lumix LX3 but not the Fuji F200. I would say if you want a lot more flexibility in manual adjustments, a dedicated external flash connection where you can choose an additional external flash option, very good wide screen video capability plus many very neat automated features, choose the LX3. If you want a great point and shoot at a lower price and are not interested in the myriad of manual options available on the LX3, choose the F200. It is hard to say that you could go wrong with either one but I think the LX3 might be appreciated by the photographer with semi professional aspirations (which I assure you, I am not).

Thanks a lot! I'm a very new player in camera field. And you're information has been a great help to me. I don't know anything about camera, so I think I will get the simplest camera that can deliver good outcome. Some says, even the worst person taking picture, the outcome can still be okay, thank you fred :)

And some say that even an average photographer can take a great picture (with some care) with even the worst camera. Good luck!
