no it uses a special lithium battery

On the plus side, the battery it uses is rechargeable and isn't too expensive:

But yeah, I prefer AA rechargeables myself.

though on down side I dont think it comes with a charger so youd have to get that seperate ..

I don't think you're correct about that unavailable. Page 15 of the manual clearly states that you need to charge up the battery before using. I don't know of a single camera that has that requirement and doesn't give the user a means to charge the battery unless you buy the AC adapter as a separate accessory.
