How do LCD screens react to low temperatures? I'm worried about travelling with a camera that does not have an optical viewfinder.

How low of temperatures? You're right, LCDs will react to the cold temperatures by becoming more sluggish and laggy, but the screen won't crack or shut-down or otherwise be ruined unless you expose it to some seriously cold temperatures. I for one have left my SD800IS in the car where temperatures have reached 130 degrees (in the car, not outside, lol), and also in the winter when the temperature was below zero. It's still working great.

If you know the definite temperature range of where you'll be, and it'll typically be below freezing, I would contact Fuji and ask them directly via E-mail. This way you'll have an electronic paper trail if things don't go the way you're expecting.

I know this idea may be a bit of a stretch, but if you own this camera and want to know exactly how cold temperatures will react with the LCD, you should go to a grocery store and ask if they would let you in the dairy cooler to experiment with the camera. It sounds ridiculous, but I've done it before. Or put it in your refrigerator, left on, and take it out and take a few pictures to see how the cold affected it. As long as it's not unbearably cold outside, I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.
