Try setting the camera to the highest ISO setting possible. It looks like for the S5000/S5100, that is ISO 400. That may not be high enough to seriously solve the problem, but should cut down on the motion blurring a bit.

Why don't you just use the sport feature - I just use that and it solves all those problems - from moving people to swaying branches on trees.

I have found that by enabling the Flash, it takes care of all blurried pictures. Try a picture of kids with and without the flash on and see that with the flash it looks great.

Yippee, more good advice. Needless to say I'm lesser than a novice with Digital. I guess I picked a Camera with far more capabilities than me.
