My wonderful S5000 has decided to display "No Image" on the LCD screen.

After the last download of pictures my S5000 has a "No Image" message showing on the LCD screen. There is also an arrow pointing to the right. The arrow (if you will) is located in the left bottom quadrant. I have removed batteries for a long while but that didn't work. I have "reset" but that didn't make a difference. I truly hope this isn't the end of my wonderful S5000. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Bill

Well, if you've downloaded the images to your computer and erased the card, wouldn't there be a no image message? But it sounds like this is a new development for you, so if you've tried taking pictures and still have the issue, it could be a failing or corrupted memory card. Try reformatting it. See if you can duplicate the error with another card. If you can, then it points to a possible camera failure, requiring service, which wouldn't be too surprising considering it's age. But you could also look on Fuji's website for a firmware update. See if that helps.

But in the end, at six years old, if a repair is required, it may cost more than the camera is worth. But understand that the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

I am having the same issue. I have a black display prior to and after taking a picture. I can preview pictures on a card if it has pictures on it but can not see pictuers taken now that the card is empty. I can only see the logged picture number in the top right hand corner. I can delete the frames and it will do so as if there is a picture there. The screen is just black.
