Best light weight teleconverter lens for taking bird pics with my fuji s5200

I own the fuji s5200 camera and I love it but.... I need to get more zoom power to take close ups of my birds out in the woods as well as at the shore. (Jersey Shore). I don't have the money to invest in a telephoto lens but I have been seeing different options and I would like some advice. Which is the best teleconverter lens ( I believe it is like a magnifier) that can add 2x or 3x the zoom power onto the camera's own 10 opt zoom. I want to keep costs down but want quality pics (everyone does, right??) What are the best in terms of price, quality and weight?? Thanks, Dee Dee

As a rule, I'm against teleconverters. The trade offs of light loss (up to 2 stops) and clarity issues simply aren't worth it for a perceived boost. And then there's pronounced camera shake. In fact, I'm betting the quality of the image won't even be as good as if you simply enlarged and cropped the image in photoshop.

That's my 2 cents.
