finepix 5200 won't power up

Morning, I have new batteries in it, they are Energizer 2200 mAh nickel metal hydride(checked with volt meter for full charge) cleaned the contacts inside and on the battery cover, but still nothing. We have a home made battery adapter that had the polarity backwards after some work done on it, my other digital camera still works, is there a fuse in the finepix that might have been blown by the reversed polarity? Honestly, we put it down after using it for the day, no impacts, jars, bumps occurred, it just doesn't power up.

It's possible that you fried your battery or worse, bricked the camera. You should only use a recommended AC charger for things like that. Also, try cleaning the contacts.
