Trying to compare Canon S3IS and Fuji S5200, getting mixed recommendations. help!

i'm somewhat of a beginner, but can figure cameras out fairly quickly. Love taking outdoor photos, but will take some inside. Finding a new love for taking pictures at night also. Zoom is a plus and clarity of photos is a MUST. need some expert advice.

Definitely the Canon S3 IS. More megapixels mean clearer photos and more flexibility when cropping and zooming. Stronger zoom (12x vs 10x) is a plus. The Fuji does offer higher ISO, but the Canon has High ISO Auto to help with low light shots- and I think ISO 1600 like the Fuji has is useless anyhow, you'd just get swamped with image noise. I also think the Canon does better in low light in general (my opinion, but it's gathered from seeing lots of sample photos) and the Canon is more user friendly in terms of menus and layouts. Love the S3.
Of course, someone will probably have the opposite opinion and more mixed recommendations for you, but I think the Canon wins on paper (megapixels & zoom) and the performance backs that up. My two cents.

Photography is my hobby and i have seen a lot of pictures from different camera manufacturers with different resolutions. The S3 is a 6 meg while Fuji S5200 is 5 meg. You cannot spot the difference on the 1 megapixel difference! i have a canon A610 which is also a 5 meg and also using the same DIGIC II technology as S3. Features/functions are the same except for the 12X zoom and stereo video recording for S3. I have seen the strengths and weaknesses of my A610 so i'm sure it would be the same for S3. For Fuji, I also own one, a S5200. At first, I was skeptic but soon I found out that in terms of image quality, i would give a higher vote for Fuji. The S5200 is also better on low light photography. Overall, both S3 and S5200 have their own strengths and it's up for the user on his/her preference.
