Overall excellent; only 1 detractor
( - 3/24/06)I am a serious amateur with 30+ years, always favored Pentax, my fave being my K1000 that I lugged around during college. When I went digital 6 years ago, I basically just went with what I could afford. In '04, I had the bucks and did the research and the S7000 came up as a great all around. The first day, being Independence Day, I took a few dozen fireworks shots using a tripod and cable release, several that were high enough quality to print 8x10 and get great reviews on. It has since gone everywhere, including when I went w/the Red Cross to Mississippi this past September. I have only one issue w/it and that is it's inability to auto-focus in dim light. I take pictures of EVERY thing, kids, church friends, events, landscapes—and I've been really happy w/the quality. The prints are indistinguishable from film, imo. No wasted film, battery life is great, if I had to replace the camera, I would seriously consider getting another one just like it.
