upgrade from Fuji s5100: s5200 or s700? or somethiing else?

Hi.
I just sold my s5100 which was not a bad camera for a beginner, but had some limitations and I could not adapt in to work as a webcamera, neither to an AC outlet. I saw some purple fringes, unnatural color nuances, and was poor on close shots and in dim light/ night.
I consider doing an upgrade to something better. I wish I could start with a dslr like Nikon d40, but my budget is @ < $250. I came across the Fuji s5200 and s700. Unfortunately misses the RAW feature. Has anyone made a comparison betwen these 2 cameras? I'm mostly interested in the quality of the image itself than anything else. I would consider other cameras, even other brands for this budget.
Thank you very much !
Simona

Take a look at the Fuji s1000 this is a great 10 mp camera with 12x zoom and you can easily find it under $250.

Hi, thanks Anthony, I did ! But, as someone explains on this site, "more MP does not necessary means better". I found on another forum that some users made comparisons between the s700 and the s1000. In the end, I have decided for the s700, as the s1000 is not offering much benefits, eg: no RAW feature !
Thanks

I actually own both the S5200 and the S700. If you are looking for great pics with little or no fuss I would suggest the S5200. I mainly bought the S700 because of the larger LDC monitor, but honestly I think the S5200 takes better pictures. Also, on the S5200 all of the program options are located on the dial. The S700 has a few more program options, but you have to go within other programs to reach them. Also, with the S700 you can only set the ISO in the manual settings as someone else mentioned.
