understand there's been problems in fUJI camera's zoom going bust?

I've read reviews that say the zoom breaks and the battery life is short.

I own this camera from may 2007. More than 10,000 pics were taken with a zoom hard use, and I never had any problem, neither with zoom nor with battery life. In fact, this unit optimises battery at last!...
Camera was used under very different environments, with snow, whid direct sunlight, at temperatures as low as -10ºC and as high as 40ºC, with high dump environments, and I never saw a problem with zoom.

Like any electronic device, some care must be taken in order to extend its useful life. This camera, as nny, must be stored in a padded case. Camera must be fit snug in it, no movments have to be allowed inside the case, in order to avoid undesidrable and unnecessary optics movement.

Hope this helps!

thank you for taking the time to respond to my question/concern. I agree that electronic vary, and most work well forever. I've also noticed that electronic devices - if they are to fail - do so initially, and if that doesn't occur then most continue to provide reliable service. many thanks - now I'll buy this camera for my 13 yr old daughter whose really into photography.

My first serious camera was a Minolta XG9, and I was 14 when I received it as a gift...It´s a good beginning for your daughter.
