my fuji s700 flash doesn't open fully and i have to hold it open to take flash.

flash partially opens but doesn't flash unless i hold it open
tried changinging batteries-no success
any suggestions?

I have the same problem and after taking it apart as far as I could, I could see the back side of a coil spring that is supposed to hold up the flash after it is released to take the picture. Evidently, the coil spring is broken and not doing its job but I was unable to get the camera apart enough to remove or replace it without the possibly causing more damage. I now do what you do and hold it open to take a picture.

You may want to check with Fuji to see if there's a service advisory on this. If there is, Fuji may fix it for free. But if not, $60 isn't bad.
