Actually, the problem is pretty common (not as in it happens to a ton of cameras, but it happens frequently enough not to be random error). So far, I think the only solution is hope its still under warranty and send it in to be repaired. I think its a motherboard (in the camera) problem with communication between the memory card and the computer itself. Hope this helps.

Also I should add that this just happened overnight. My camera still works fine it just won't communicate with the computer, I was uploading pics like 2 hours before it said this. Also I tried my flash drive and it froze the computer like the camera does so I don't know if it could just be a problem with my usb ports.

That's also a possibility, but I've seen this problem with a couple Fuji cameras, try plugging other things to the computer, or trying plugging in the camera to another computer. Either way, I would get an external memory card reader and use that, this will get you around the problem if its camera related, and is just a good investment in general.

Definitely advise getting a memory card reader to bypass multiple/common problems with many digital cameras causing much frustration in simply trying to transfer image files to computer. Card readers rule!

I had this same problem. I removed the memory card from my camera, reinserted it, then tried again and the communication error was gone.
