Is there a limit to how much video this camera can take?

I've had this camera for a while now and I've had no problems with the pictures, cards, settings, etc. but I've run into a bit of a snag lately. I updated the firmware to the newest version and I put in a 8gb sdhc card and it seems to register just fine, but when I go to take video it says I have 140 minutes of record time but as soon as I start recording it drops down to 37 minutes of record time. Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

Although it initially read the card first, the camera isn't SDHC compatible. So it may only be really recognizing 2GB of the 8GB.
