Thinking about either 8100fd, FZ18 or Fuji 9600.

Would like to indulge in a bit more creative photography, landscapes, buildings, etc. I already use a brilliant little pocket P&S (Fuji fd40) for general snapshots but want to do a little more.
Can anyone who has used the above give me any advice.

The 9600 is probably the best option. It seems to have the best sensor, more manual features, and more automatic features, which overall amount to a better camera. It also is a bit more expensive, but I definitely think its worth the money. If you're not as brand loyal with Fuji, I would take a look at the Sony H series, especially H10, in my opinion better sensor, better camera.

Have a look at the Fuji S1000fd. I own one and I like it very much. I'm on Flickr, check my account and the Finepix S1000fd group.

It is less expensive, and I believe the CCD is 10mgpx.
Very compact for a Superzoom
