Do you have to buy the expensive battery or is there a cheaper version available?

I have a Fuji V10 and want to have a spare battery. Do you have to buy the Fuji brand or can you use the cheaper ones?

You can certainly use the cheaper ones if you can find one online. But you can probably find an original Fuji brand battery for cheaper price as well. Here is just one link for example.
