Display on camera is great, photos blurred on computer.

My fiance bought me this camera on Ebay and unfortunately the person who sold it failed to include either a memory card or the cd with the instruction manual or software. My problem is that photos come up on the camera looking blurry, but after a moment they sharpen. I've heard the term "interpollation" thrown around and I don't know if this is it. However, when I load them on my computer they are just as blurry as they were on the display screen before it sharpened them. I don't know if the software that was supposed to be included with this camera would help with this or not, or what I can do to fix this. Please help!

When you mention the picture first appear blur on the LCD and then slowly becomes sharp, it bears striking resemblance to one of the made-in-Taiwan Cameras that I once handled.

The CD that comes with the camera contains driver for Win98SE which you probably won't need and Direct X 8. There should be another CD containing a picture viewer software. You don't miss a lot if they are not in the box.

Win98SE driver for the camera can be downloaded from the Gateway site and for picture viewers, you can download Irfanview or Picasa2 which are quite popular.

The pictures are not very sharp on the computer, but better than when it first appear on the LCD.
Slight adjustments on sharpness, contrast and brightness can be made through Irfanview or Picasa 2. You can also rotate the pictures if necessary.

The original package comes with a 32 meg SD card, you don't miss much if it is not there. A 512 meg card probably works with the camera while 1 gig card may or may not be compatible.
