I am switching back to film!!!

( - 10/14/04) I have had generally good luck with this camera. It has an impressive number of features, a large, bright LCD display and the photo quality is generally good. The small size and low cost are also pluses. In door shots have a yellow/orange tinge unless the flash is used. There is very little latitude in the exposure so if there is large contrast in the shot, it will either come out over or under exposed. This is a problem in outdoor shots where I would loose any contrast in the sky and far distant landscapes. Battery life is decent despite the small batteries, but remembers to carry a spare. Recently I bought a 128 Mb SD memory card for a trip I was taking as the 32 Mb card would not be adequate. I checked the capacity from time to time throughout the trip. I was connecting to publicly available computers to upload photos to a travel blog I was keeping which is an idea way of sharing the photos. At the very end of the trip I connected to a computer, uploaded a few photos and disconnected. The next time I turned on the camera a "Format Error" message was displayed and I could no longer access the memory card. I have tried to install and uninstall the card and clean the contacts, but nothing works. I had only uploaded a few of the photos and the majority were still on the memory card. This is a digital camera owner's nightmare! What use is a 128 Mb, 64 Mb or even a 32 Mb card when you have no assurance that they can be stored semi-permanently? The SD memory card was from Toshiba, just as the card that had originally come with the camera. So is it the card, the camera or something I did? Frankly I am at a loss! I am switching back to film!!!
