There are quite a number of such observations as reported in the internet. It is probably an electrical contact problem which you cannot do much except to clean the contact points of the memory card.

You should get help from Gateway for this problem.

Which camera and cards are you using? Some cards, whether because of brand or capacity, aren't usable by certain cameras. I find it difficult to believe you bought two different cards and they both don't work with your camera. Make sure they both work on another device to make sure it's either a camera or compatibility issue, first. You should also check the users manual to see what cards are compatible. I had a 4GB SD card not work in my camera, for instance. If you don't have another card to test out that's more "normal" and don't want to buy another normal card to test out, call Gateway and see if the two cards you have are #1: Compatible and #2: If they aren't compatible, which one you should get.

my camera keeps saying card error and won't let me do anything. It is very annoying and I don't know what to do. Is my camera broken? Or do I just need to delete the pictures?

ml8495 I have a gateway DC-T50 camera and it does the card error also so I just open the door take out the card and put it back in and shut the door and start taking pictures until it does it again. No more Gteway bargains for me, what a hassle.
