lI have a gateway dc t150 with an error message of 3.

The lens is stuck out and lens cover is closed. Tried to remove battery, recharge the thing but it doesn't work with it plugged in either.

Was the camera dropped? If so, you have a lens that may have become out of alignment. It will need to be repaired. If not, you may try to GENTLY push against the lens with the Palm of your hand. Again GENTLY as you turn it on.

But after talking to Gateway, it's sounding more like a physical lens issue requiring repair.

Thanks James, did they happen to say what the "error 3" was?
I don't think it was dropped but it belongs to my daughter. She is usually pretty responsible but you know kids. Thanks again!

It's a lens error message. It usually means that the lens is slightly out of alignment or has been made askiew in the track by a grain of sand or perhaps the shock of being dropped. It could be a simple software glitch, underpowered batteries. Several things. But I spoke to Gateway directly on your behalf and based on what was stated in the original question, it may just need servicing.

But if it worked to GENTLY push it, then perhaps you've bought yourself some time.

I have the same problem with my camera, and mine was definitely dropped. My lens does not go out at all, but it was stuck out originally and I tried to gently push it in. Does anyone have any recommendations about how to get this repaired? I am very confused about where to send it without it costing a fortune. I have read bad reviews of repairs through Gateway taking forever.
Thanks!

You'll have to contact Gateway on repairing it, unfortunately. If you don't like that. Try and find a "mom and pop" camera store which handles repairs. Having a middle man like that can be most helpful.

But here's the thing. I wouldn't make a decision on repairing it until you get an estimate. This camera is about 4 years old. And if it costs north of 50% what you originally paid for it to repair, you're better off getting a newer and more updated camera.

I will try contacting Gateway first. We don't have any camera repair shops in the area, and I have found some online. I don't know which one would be good...some have their policies spelled out online, and some don't. Most don't fix Gateways anyway. So I'll try Gateway first and see what they say. Thanks for your help!

Mine has a "Format Error" that has not been fixed by shutting off the camera nor removing the battery for five minutes. Suggestions?

Craig, you could check to see if there's a firmware update from Gateway's website. That may solve the issue.

Lisa, check with Gateway's website for approved repair facilities near you.
