How do I get it to accept a 1.0 GB disk? I came with a 32MB at it works for 10 pictures. I have formatted the disk but no luck.

It seems to format and I can take a picture, review it but if I turn the camera off I get "this card cannot be used". It is the same make as the 32mb that came with the camera.

Probably the camera is not compatible with that capacity. Try using a smaller and generic card, like 256 MB or 512 MB.

I had the same problem and used a 512 MB and then it worked fine.
