screen black no picture in viewer tho lens is out

When I turn the camera on to take a picture, there is nothing shown in the large viewer on the back---It has a new battery--never been dropped-took fabulous pics, lens comes out and everything--just no picture---can you help, thanks Bonnie

For the age of the camera, that's usually indicative of a failing CCD chip. Unfortunately, though, it'll probbably cost more to repair it than it's worth. And although you may like the camera, it's way past time to upgrade it.

I have an Olympus 18X, bigger, the little gateway was nice--fits in your pocket-came in handy----hope I can get reasonable help
