when I rotate the function knob from A (green) to set-up, the camera prompts a message saying that I have an error with the memory card. What's wrong

When I rotate the function knob from A (green) to Setup, an error with the memory card displays on the screen, preventing me from taking an exposure. If I leave a camera sitting for overnight, the problem disappears until I move the function mode. What can I do to fix the problem?

That does sound strange. I have never heard of that happening before. I have very little experience with Gateway cameras, you are best to contact there help page here atGateway Digital camera support.

We had a similar problem with a SD card in a Canon SD800is. We tried a different card and found that the problem when away even though others indicated that the problem was not likely to be the card. I would suggest that you try a different card or return the card to either the retailer or the manufacturer. Most maunufacturers such as Sandisk have extended if not lifetime warranties for their cards.
