Greedy for Battery

I have had this camera for 2 years and 4 months now. I had it for christmas 2004 and one of the reasons I still have this crap is because my lovely sister bought it for my present and I feel bad to part with it...but it's time has come. This was my first camera..ever..!The reviews are right, it eats batteries like a starving Ethiopian orphan. Outdoor pictures are great, but low light or indoor pics are poor. In movie mode, the video and audio quality is ok. This camera embarrass me on my recent trip to Jamaica where it died on me for the umpteenth time when it really mattered and that was the last straw. So I am on the hunt for another digital camera. Ok so I om open to suggestions on how to buy a new digital camera.
