HP 735 not recognizing SD card

I was just given a HP photosmart 735 after my previous camera was destroyed. I have both 1G and 2G SD cards that I have tried to use in the camera, but it is not showing an option to write the pictures to the memory card. It is only use it's very small internal memory. I was not given the manual or usb cord with the camera, but I looked up the manual online and did not see a solution for this problem. Have a I missed something in the set up that would allow me to switch to using the SD card for memory or should the camera just automatically write to the card when it is installed?

The camera will automatically detect the SD card when it is inserted into the camera.
No ' switching of cards ' is necessary on your part.

Usually when a camera cannot read a card, it will give you a message.
In your case, as you did not mention of any messages, it probably means the card is not recognized by the camera.

This happens when the capacity of the card exceeds the maximum allowed by the camera.
I would use 512 meg card for this camera, to be on the safe side.

I have this camers and hwen I first bought it and tried to insert the card I thought that the card was faulty,
Indeed I WAS WRONG AND found that I hadn't pushed the card into the camera far enough, a spring load system ejects when pushed again.
