missing action photos

When I use my HP 945 at a horse show(any action photos) it seems like I have to click the button before the horse is even in the viewfinder in order to hopefully capture the image. Is this just the delay in this camera or am I doing something wrong? I really like the camera other than this problem.

Hi Kellee,

With most digital cameras you can pre-focus your shot by half-pressing the shutter release button. When this is done, you can then (still holding it down halfway) wait until you have the shot you want lined up and press the button the rest of the way. The lag from half-press to full press is usually nearly nonexistent, while the lag from no press to full press can be quite large.
