camera snaps but no picture, what is wrong?

when i take a picture with my 945, it does not show up in the display and the picture comes out black even with the flash.
the view finder is also black, it just stopped taking pictures.
the screen still works because you can view movies and pictures that are on the sd card but it will not take pictures to add to the sd card. when you make a vedio you hear the sound but no picture, please someone help me.

Sounds like the CCD sensor. The sensor is what records the image and if it goes bad or goes out you end up with either a streaky picture or none at all.

Do all the menus etc still work?

You will probably end up calling for service on this one unfortunately. With the age of the camera it may be time to look for a replacement. Maybe someone else will have further advice for you.

It really sounds like the CCD. At this point you will probably need to call the HP customer service and see what kind of price they quote you. I have the feeling though that for what it will cost to fix you could replace the camera. Sorry I don't have better news.
